Nicolas obtained his B.S. in Biology and his M.S. in Virology at the Complutense University located in his home city Madrid (Spain). He learned molecular biology and virology at Dr. Jose Francisco Rodriguez’s lab at the Spanish National Centre for Biotechnology (CNB-CSIC). Subsequently, he moved to Belgium where he did his Ph.D. at Dr. Herman Favoreel’s lab at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the Ghent University (Ghent, Belgium). Nicolas started a postdoctoral stay at Dr. David Knipe’s lab at the Department of Microbiology of the Harvard Medical School in 2022, where he attempts to decipher the determinants for the cellular innate responses to herpes simplex virus 1 (HSV-1) infection.
